What are the advantages of medical mask materials?

2026-01-15

Speaking of medical masks, everyone is familiar with them. In places like hospitals—where germs are abundant—you’ll often see many people wearing medical masks. So, how exactly do medical masks prevent pathogens and other toxins from entering the body?

Regarding the materials used in medical masks, the filter fabric employed primarily adsorbs bacteria and viruses, effectively blocking pathogens. The dense filtration layer is made of N95 filter material, which can capture fine particles and efficiently prevent the transmission of droplets, blood, body fluids, and secretions. The mask straps are two long bands that pass through holes on either side of the mask. The nose clip is positioned at the center of the upper part of the filtration layer, placed between the dense layer and the filtration layer. It’s made from either metal or a metal-plastic composite material—offering both malleability and sufficient strength to ensure a snug seal around the nose when worn.

It can be said that medical masks are an excellent tool for preventing the mutual transmission of infections between healthcare workers and patients. Therefore, during manufacturing, it is essential to adhere strictly to national standards and ensure that the mask’s bacterial filtration efficiency reaches at least 95%. This is a crucial function of medical masks.
