What is the degreasing process for medical degreased gauze?

2026-01-15

The medical degreased gauze used as a component of gauze pads must meet the relevant quality specifications and requirements. In addition, qualified gauze pads should be soft, odorless, and tasteless. So, what exactly do we mean by “degreased” here, and what is the production process like?

Degreasing, in the conventional sense, refers to the removal of oil. It is a method used to extract oils and fats from wastewater, sludge, or solid waste. Equipment used for separating oils and fats from wastewater includes grease traps and oil-water separators.

In addition, degreasing in industry refers to the process of removing grease and oil from the surfaces of machine parts or iron products. The grease and oil found in grease-filter cartridges primarily originate from lubricating oils and rust-preventive oils used during machining, oil seals applied during storage, mold-release agents used during molding, and polishing pastes adhering during grinding and polishing.

The methods for degreasing include organic solvent degreasing, chemical degreasing, and electrochemical degreasing. Sometimes, several methods need to be used simultaneously. The degreasing process can be carried out in stages, appropriately timed before and after soaking, softening, acid immersion, and neutralization.
