Points to note when purchasing gauze pads

2026-01-15

Gauze pads are commonly used sanitary products in medical settings. They are highly effective for wound dressing and are essential medical supplies on operating tables. In daily life, they also have numerous practical uses—they can serve as towels or handkerchiefs. If you have young children, gauze pads are a must-have item to keep at home for emergencies. When purchasing gauze pads, be sure to pay attention to the following aspects:

(1) It’s important to check the packaging labels and product instructions for finished products early on: Finished products generally come in two types—non-sterile and sterile. The product instructions or the finished-product packaging must clearly state whether the product was manufactured using a sterile or non-sterile process.

(2) Medical gauze packaged in a sterile manner can be used directly, whereas gauze packaged in a non-sterile manner must be sterilized by methods such as high-pressure steam or ethylene oxide before it can be used.

(3) For medical gauze packaged in a sterile manner, the packaging markings must clearly indicate the sterilization expiration date, the date of manufacture or batch number, instructions or labels warning against use if the packaging is damaged, and instructions for single-use only or labels prohibiting reuse. If the packaging is found to be damaged or has exceeded its expiration date, it should no longer be purchased or used.

(4) When purchasing medical gauze, pay attention to the product’s appearance. The product should be soft, odorless and tasteless, with a pure white color, and free of any other fibers or processing substances. Under ultraviolet light, it should not exhibit strong blue fluorescence.

The gauze pads manufactured by Henan Yu'an Medical are soft to the touch and feature excellent absorbency and breathability. They are single-use materials that should be stored in a cool, dry, and clean environment. We hope the above information is helpful to everyone.
