What issues should be taken into account when producing medical gauze pads?

Medical gauze pads are medical products used for wound care and provide excellent protection for wounds. At the same time, medical gauze pads have high requirements for material quality and are also more convenient to use. In addition, during the production process of medical gauze pads, the following issues need to be carefully considered:
In the manufacturing process of medical gauze pads, the “alkali boiling” step for the gauze is a crucial stage. Its purpose is to remove sizing agents, oils, waxes, and other substances from the raw fabric, which directly affects the quality of the medical gauze. At the same time, this stage generates significant amounts of pollutants, so special attention must be paid during operation.
To reduce the generation of pollutants during the production of medical gauze pads, the defective gauze fabrics currently produced are often first subjected to a series of processes—including high-temperature degreasing, dewaxing, and removal of sizing agents—before undergoing steam treatment, water washing, and bleaching. As a result, pollutants from the previous process tend to carry over into subsequent stages. To ensure that the gauze meets the national hygiene standards and to guarantee product quality, it is essential to use large quantities of clean water for thorough cleaning.
In addition, medical gauze pads must undergo rigorous testing and inspection before leaving the factory. They should feel soft to the touch, have strong absorbency, uniform weft density, be white and odorless, free of acidity or alkalinity, and safe to use. Before processing, sparse plain cotton gauze fabrics are carefully selected to ensure that only qualified and suitable fabrics are chosen. These selected fabrics then undergo a double bleaching process involving chlorine and oxygen (to remove grease). After degreasing, the treated gauze fabrics are mechanically slit into strips and subsequently cut into medical gauze pads according to the required specifications.
